Record Number of Entries for Woolcraft Competition

It’s gearing up to be a great Show to celebrate 40 years of Woolcraft with a record-breaking number of 360 entries in the Woolcraft Competition! Every state in Australia is represented along with international representation from New Zealand. Volunteers can’t wait to start unpacking the parcels to view the well-crafted exhibits for judging day next Wednesday. There will be many oohs and aahs! Be sure to make the Art and Craft Pavilion your first stop at the show to view the competition winners and a special 40 years of Woolcraft exhibit.

Exhibit

  • Please remember no names or identifying labels on article.

Full Particulars of Exhibit

  • In addition to details regarding colour, size, technique, etc., please state if your exhibit is made of Merino wool (see Conditions of Entry 3) or by a Novice (see Conditions of Entry 10) to be eligible for Special Prizes.

Exhibit Return

  • Circle your preferred method of return: collected by hand or returned by registered post.
  • Exhibits to be returned by registered post must include the $10 registered post handling fee and any extra amount of postage payable according to Australia Post.

 Classes 56 & 57 Fashion Garments

  • You must include a photo on a model for display in the cabinet if garment is paraded.

 Storyboards

  • You may find it beneficial to submit a storyboard in addition to your exhibit that includes an explanation of the interpretation of the theme, the number of techniques and how they were used.
  • Photographs and other visuals may also be included and are very beneficial to the judges when judging.
  • A storyboard is REQUIRED for Class 65 – Team Entry

Is Australian Wool required for Woolcraft Competition?

It has come to the attention of the Woolcraft Committee that some people are of the understanding that Australian wool must be used in the Woolcraft Competition.

This is most definitely incorrect.

However, if Australian wool is used and this must be proven, your exhibit will bear extra consideration in the judging for Special Prizes. See page 4 of the Woolcraft Schedule 2012 under Special Prizes for additional information.

Woolcraft Competition Drop-off/Pick-up for Transport to Show

Do you need your exhibit transported to and from the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in July?

There will be a drop-off box at the Handweavers and Spinners Guild of Victoria (655 Nicholson Street, Carlton North, VIC 3054 Australia) for exhibits to be placed ready for transport, from the Guild Meeting Day, Saturday 16th June 2012 until Wednesday 11th July 2012. Exhibits should be packaged and labelled adequately.

Collection will be available after the Show from Tuesday 24th July 2012. Please sign sheet on drop-off and pick-up of exhibits.
